This is in relation to the statement, Is it the workouts or a gift from God?… Answer: everyone was physically made different, some ppl have to work harder than other ppl. Some ppl don't need organized training to be good cuz there already good. You can think of it like this you are either slower than somebody or you are faster than somebody, and more than likely you're slower than someone else.
but if we push ourselves and that means hard work whether your fast or slow you will improve, for some ppl it could be a few seconds off their time and for some a few milliseconds. some ppl work harder than other ppl and find better improvements, and some ppl work less and have better improvements, that is why whether you are slower than someone else (most likely) if you do the right work that is specifc to your goals, then you'll most likely find improvements.
I can't say there is any perfect training program, programs are based on simple training methods that can be improved, some are more technical some are more simple, they should be specifc to the athletes goals, but that doesn't change the fact that simple hard work can make improvements.
For me as a sprinter I would simply categorize training in this fashion: Accelleration Starts, Specifc Endurance to your event, Sprinting Technique. Those should be the first areas of training to get better at.
If you want strength you don't neccessarily have to go to the gym to get more strength but I am sure many coaches out there have all kinds exercises to develop better strength in athletes. which can involve weights, medicine balls, plyometrics etc…, but which execises are involved in your athletes training should be concerned with what areas he needs to better develop. whether it's basic exercises or specific exercises of any category in the athletes training.
