I have a friend who runs 800 in 1:56 and change. From what I've seen in a couple minutes of reading about it, most 800 runners do some long duration work (the 40 somethin minute runs or whatever). My friend Works out solely with the sprinters, and our workouts are almost never more than 400m. Is he just a freak of nature, or is the long duration running not really needed for training in the 800?
I dunno how good times are across the nation or wherever you guys are from, but 1:56 is a really fast time for my area.
