I have a 13 yr old boy and 10 yr old girl who run track at their school. They complain sometimes about sideaches. Any suggestions on how to conquer these.
My experience with sideaches have led to make the following suggestions. One is to get them to limit their intake of carbonated beverages-especially just prior to running. Two is that I always spend significant time with ab strength by having the athletes do various crunches (sort of a modified sit up in which only the upper back comes off the ground).
Basic conditioning should help as well as a good stretching/warm up routine.
