I just read a short article written by Boo titled "Planning Technical Training for the Track and Field Athlete."
He talks about the 3 phases you guys at LSU base the technical part of your season on….Drills and Partial Skills, Synthesis, and Problem Solving.
Can you get more in depth with these phases, as the article is basically a general overview??
Also, as a h.s. coach with many more kids out for the jumps and VERY little time to ready them for competition (1st comp. 8 days after start of practice!!!), I find it challenging (a good thing) to have these set technical phases planned out in separate weeks. Especially since like I just mentioned we have comps. starting not even 2 weeks into the start of season.
I realize that at the college level, there is much more practice time prior to 1st comp. as well. Can you share some ideas about this stuff?
