clearly having a low bodyfat is beneficial to sprinters.. but apparant;y the best way to burn bodyfat is long low intensity cardio. So how bad would it be to do say long slow wlaks, light jogs or elliptical and stationary bike work to burn bodyfat?? could these be done everyday such as on the sprints days but later in the day?

a lot of people actually think interval type cardio is the best way. If you do a mix of high intensity work and low intensity, you should be fine. If you try to go too far below your set-point, you are going to fuck yourself hormonally anyway. I would look to your diet before your working out because swimmers work out 3-4 hours a day and some of them are still fat asses.

sounds like HIIT… the problem with that tho is that it doesn't fit into a sprint schedule since it would interfere with recovery….

I'd just do more ext. tempo work or maybe try the walking.  Walking is better than sitting on your butt most of the day.

Relatively recent research indicates that weight training is quite conclusively the best means of exercise to improve body composition.

Be careful with doing too much low intensity cardio…it will send a mixed message to a sprinter's body and the conflict will cause an interference effect.

intensive CNS stimulating sprints and plyos will burn way more fat than doing BS on ellipticals, treadmills, etc. its obviously way more productive for sprinters and a lot more fun.

true. bc sprints along with weights will stimulate muscle growth which elevates the metabloism.
