My question is how much weaker are you guys in season when looking at your main lifts. Up until recently I have never mixed a strength program (west side) with such a heavy weekly emphasis on max effort (1-3 RM) with a sport.
since I have been doing mixed martial arts ( I guess more accurately ground and pound) 2-3 times a week my main lifts have been sliding despite my best efforts to balance weight room/recovery work/rest.
I realize that when you add anything more than the effort of getting up to urinate/eat protein/crap to a powerlifting program your numbers will suffer. My issue is I am really starting to dread max effort lifts because I can’t handle the weights I was 6 months ago.
Luckily, my “sport” is not suffering for now… just my ego
