ok my 40m time handtimed was clocked at 5.52ht only did it once didnt bother to try again and see if it was faster. Second was 60m again previous pB 7.50ht but i got 7.52ht this time. Im thinking that 1.98-2.0x secodns between the 20m would suggest acceleration or getting to top speed? I havent dont 100m test yet but previous ht PB is 12.28ht 2 years ago when i ran 12.17FAT it would been around 11.8 i guess. I have stopped lifting weights and am losing weight havent lost that much power. I am afraid however stopping all of a sudden then going back to it can lead to further injuries. Suggestions welcome MIKE

If your numbers are right (they don't really sound like they are…tough to hand time short sprints) then I'd say your problem is more the beginning and end of your race and not the middle. Performance at the start is related to starting strength / power and acceleration mechanics. Performance at the end is relaxation and speed endurance.

my 150m time is 18.6 seconds. My coach is really good timer, is off in electronic times by .3 always for 2 years now that i know him. He never makes mistake. Even for short long sprints. I learned to stay more relaxed at the end of the race and it is making a difference. Another thing i am fixiated on the last 40m now and been doing calculations and alot of amateur runners run the last 40m of 100m in 4.2-4.4 seconds the ones with good speed endurance like my friend clocks electronically 3.8s for last 40m. This is very interesting if i run 7.50ht and can hold the last 4 seconds its 11.5 which is where i am running man if i can drop those time to a 3.8 thats 11.30 right there.

It doesn't really work like that. You can get to your 7.5h a variety of different ways, including having a good start, but low top end speed or a terrible start and high top speed. The latter (high top speed) would mean the last 40m would be much faster than the other guy who ran 7.5h with a good start, but low top end speed as he is coming into the last 40m at a higher speed already.

well he is ahead of me from start to finish, only time i would ever be ahead of him is 10-20m from a very good start. usually im behind him alittle bit and he really goes another gear after 55m onwards. He is primariy a 400m runner but can run it all 100,200,400m 11.00,22.14,48.29 the kid is 17 turning 18. His 60m time indoors is 7.12FAT. I will keep running and see what happens
My injury is also not healing i run with the pain, after awhile it stops, but i ice and everything like crazy after if feels fine after 3 days but track again and it is back. I let it heal for a month and when i did light work it came right back in seconds but it gets inflammed aggravated but heals rather fast with no pain. Only when i run really hard and such the adductor magnus strain come out again. I can feel it when i run alittle bit, i feel it alot doing accels but when im warm enough the pain goes away. It is the adductor magnus at the tendon where i feel it.

did a special endurance session with coach, 300 (49 around there i slowed down i was dying), 10 mins rest 200 got a 27.7 on the 200 but a kid was in the middle of the track and had to run around him so could've been abit lower. second 200 was 29, and 10 min rest and 150 run got 21 seconds on that and last ones i did at intensive tempo pace cause i was gassing like crazy. My weakness are these big runs.

If he's always 0.3 seconds off he's actually a worse than average timeer (albiet a consistent one).

I doubt there are many 11 second 100m runners who are running 3.8s auto timed for the last 40m. This is something characteristic of a mid-to-low 10s runner.

As Davan said you may make the biggest impact on your last 40m by increasing your top-end speed. The faster you are at top end speed the further you can decelerate while still running relatively fast.
