ok im going into my sophmore year in highschool and my second year in track, my events are the 100, 200, and the occasional 400 and lj and tj. My p.r’s are 11.66 in the 100, 23.91 in the 200, havent run a 400, 22′ in the lj(done in practice) and 41’2 in the tj(also done in practice). I’ve decided to focus on track so i have given up on football this season. My main goals for next outdoor season are 10.9 in the 100, 23.22 in the 200 and 52.92 in the 400. I’ve been training hard all summer long and i now need to train hard during the fall. If anyone can please help me create a schedule for this upcoming season i would greatly appreciate it. thanks in advance

Well first just a quick comment on your goals. If you plan on running a 10.9 in the 100, your 200 goal should probably be at least low 22’s. I understand that the 400 is a secondary event for you, but if you’re running 10.9’s you should be able to easily manage sub 50.

Alirght, with that said what type of training have you been doing over the summer? What type of training did you do last year? Do you have a coach or are you doing your own training? If you answer these questions I’m sure others on the board will have an easier time helping you out.

the schedule over the summer has mostly been this

monday: 10x long hills, 6x100m strides
          tuesday: 6×150 buildups, 6x50m strides
          wednesday: (75-85%)350, 250, 150 repeat 2x, 6x50m strides

          thursday: (done at full speed)40m, 60m, 80m repeat 3x,
          6x50m strides
friday: relay passes, 3x40m block starts, 3x60m block starts, 3x80m block starts

at my high school coaching is terrible and i cant remember most of the “workouts”. I’ll be training with two fellow runners and possible my indoor coach. hope thats what you were looking for…..

i think that your long jump is your best event.if you long jumped 22 feet in practice without spikes and without compition, you should hit high 22s or low 23s with spikes and compition.that is just my thought

i happen to hate long jump and triple jump due to the pain it puts on my ankles, shins and my knees.

this is where im making my training plan. you should be able to use my plan for my first 6 weeks (though ideally youd match it to 8). my 100 goal is similar to yours. after my GPP is done the differences in our training would probably become more apparent, but i think using my finished GPP plan will be a decent start for you. just remember everyones different, there are no shortcuts, and if youre gonna train by yourself it will NOT be simple to get things right.

ok, some more questions for you…when do you want to start training and how long do you have to train before track starts for you?
