I propse to create an 8×200!

I just remembered that last year at a meet between my highschool and another (our “rival” even though we all partied together, hung out, and were all really good friends with each other). Anyway, my school had a bad day for injuries and their school was gonna win no matter what the outcome of the last event was (4×400 in the setup there), but no one really wanted to run that far. So instead we ran an 8×200. And let me tell you, it was the funnest and funniest thing ever. Since most high schools don’t have an 8 deep varsity sprint team (at least where I’m from) we pulled in some of our distant runners. Ever see a 3200 runner try to run a 200 sprint? Its funny stuff. Anyway, the point is that the new event 8×200 is far superior to the 4×400, and should replace it immediately. whose with me?

are you kidding me, the 4×4 is the glamour event in High School track. I considered myself lucky to be on the team. The last event of the meet, everybody’s watching, it’s pure adrenaline. I could always push harder in the 4×4 than in the open. i would drop like 50s but could only do like 53 open. I would seriously sprint the entire thing. Some people say its not possible but I did it. (I can only run like a high 23 200) I would hand off and collapse in the infield. I always wish i could have anchored so I could get carried off the field. But instead I had to try to stand up and watch the race.

Wow, thats pretty serious. At our track meet it’s usually really cold at the end and the coach has to look around and find 4 people who haven’t left. If we even run it at all.

And being carried off the field, i dont think that has every crossed my mind after i anchor the team.

We took all our dual triangle meets really seriously. WE didn’t lose a meet my Jr/Sr seasons. A lott of those meets came down to the 4×4. I felt like the meet was on my shoulders.
