          New max thread? 🙂

Honestly, after today’s lifting I feel amazing and wanted to post about it. I figured that since everyone’s season is just getting started, it might be nice to see where everyone is at right now and how you progress throughout the year.

My max I want to brag about? Powercleans.

I warmed up with sets of 3 @ 205, 215, and 225. Then I went to sets of two @ 245, 250, 250. I weigh 170 and am 6’1″ so, I feel great 🙂 My two rep max last year at the same weight was 225.

Good job. You must dominate this year.

Thanks man. That 8th place finish last year has me motivated as all hell.

          DIII 55 dash. Josh Hurlebaus

Finals wasn’t exactly my proudest moment, but I tied my PR in prelims with a 6.42.

          Thanks.

I know the board is just getting back into gear now, but how’s everyone else’s strength training going?

My collegiate guys are the strongest group I’ve had since I’ve been at Army. I have several sprinters cleaning 125kg+, a female at 85kg, and every single one of the men (22 total) are squatting over 300lbs with the top 5 averaging about 400 lbs at 170 lbs bw. My club team athletes are doing well too…with a 60kg female cleaning 80kg; a 175 lb guy cleaning 130 kg; and another 175 lb guy squatting 505 lbs.

My own strength has been stagnant. Been too busy to get in decent training time. My overall fitness level is very good but I’ve had to take a much more all-around approach and there’s nothing systematized. Within the past 2 months I snatched 92.5kg, cleaned 125kg, squatted 380 lbs and OH squatted 105kg. Right now though I think these numbers are probably down a bit because of very sporadic training and lots of traveling.

How tall are your sprinters cleaning 125+ and what are their times? Just curious because I know shorter limbs tend to help for the lifts and honestly I love comparing myself to other people.

Your teams seem strong as all hell. How far into indoor do you go before you go into maintenance?

They are between 5’8″ and 6′. The club long jumper who’s cleaned 130kg (and can probably go 135kg now) is 6’1″. There’s video of him cleaning 280 about 6 weeks ago on my youtube channel. You can see it here.

We’re transitioning to maintenance work now. Next cycle will be primarily strength maintenance.

The 5’8″ guy can run a 7.05 60m and a 1:03.28 for 500m. He’s mainly trained as a long sprinter but is fast enough to be on the 4×1.
