I was on sherdog.com and one of the members told me to come here and i decided to, well i have about another month before football starts, and my 40 last year in juniors was 5.01, i think it increased but i want to increase it as much as i can..Im thinkin of training sprints on every off day my endurance is fine..My brother when he played university ball was in a 6 week track/plyometrics if thats what its called training at one of are gyms, and he told me that i could be jsut running wrong…

any ideas on how to run properly
and how to increase the 40 time?

          Thanks Peace

glad to see you took my advice. i actually prefer this forum to charlie francis, but dont tell them:wink: ok, so it kinda sucks that you waited so long to get advice, but it doesnt necesarily mean you cant improve. do you have a current training schedule for weights/running etc? if so please post it and we can work from there. also list any possible schedule constraints you might have.

          hahaha
well running with a bookbag or boots would increase your 40 time…but i think you want to DECREASE your time, not increase

if you continue to do a split like you outlined above, i would substitute the lat pull downs for weighted pullups. but i would also suggest you start doing cleans, snatches, pulls, etc. to work on your explosiveness. you could do these instead of deadlifts until you finish working your 40 time. try and sprint on your weight lifting days befor you lift weights.
