I personally like the idea of building general strength up first, particularly since your new to weights and also because you're a 400/800m runner whose about to work on endurance (base loading?). I'd say 3 days a week of bodybuilding circuit type work, sets of 12-20 to begin with, and 2 days of bodyweight circuits. From there you could progress as you felt you're strength allows to OL's, begin light concentrating on form which would also allow you to work endurance and fast movements with them and once again, progress whenever your body is ready. I'd begin weighted squats straight away, or maybe you could do 1-2 weeks of bodyweight squats concentrating on correct form and volume, then begin barbell squats. You could also begin medball work when you feel ready. I just feel you'd be best served to get some base strength first otherwise all the power lifting you do may not really be worth it. If you're knew to it, general strength could help considerably, so why exhaust the power lifting from the get-go?
That's just my opinion though, I'd say there are some on here (who've probably got more experience then I do right now) who'd recommend for you to head straight for OL's and the works.
