          Tyson Gay beat Asafa Powell at the World Champs 100m. It looks like Safa choked again as he had been running more impressively in the rounds leading up to the final and also in the weeks preceding the WC. He had Gay through about 70m and then Gay passed him quite easily. It even looked like Safa might have backed off at the end costing him a silver medal. Oh well. At least the guy now has a major

          I love Asafa and think he has the tools to be the greatest sprinter of all time but unless something dramatically changes, he's the greatest choker of all time. A world record holder who is presumably in near world record shape comes in third place.

          Agreed, i think next season he should try and face Tyson and whoever else is challenging on the circuit so he can get more experience of running with guys near him.

          It wouldn't shock me if in the remaining weeks he goes and breaks the WR, because he runs his best when he out in front.

          Asafa doesn't seem to have the personality to "go to war" when crunchtime comes.  He got totally blown up by Gay.

          Remember this guy has been fighting injuries most of the summer.

          I would have agreed two months ago but then he ran the 9.90 easily in Rome and ran 10.1x or lower two times in qualifying basically jogging across the line.

          Powell actually came out and said he got scared and tightened up….Tension strangles speed.
