Why do so many do western linear periodization? What other methods are there? Conjugate training seems like a better option? Wouldn't you lose some of one quality trained if you neglect it by the end of the cycle? Shouldn't you be working multiple qualities at once. I can understand in track working on acceleration and then max v and then speed endurance, because you need one to have the other, but shouldn't it be different in the weight room?
There's hypertrophy, functional hypertrophy, absolute strength, speed strength, strength endurance, starting strength, etc.
Maybe hypertrophy training should be separate, but why?
There are many forms of periodization, but what are the most popular ones, and what are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
Why do so many do western linear style? There isn't a best way, but I'd like to see other options.
