For those of you who have never had the opportunity to learn from Coach Pfaff you are missing out. He is one of the most well-rounded coaches in the world and his expertise covers not only a variety of events in track and field but also a wide variety of disciplines. Here’s a 5 minute snippet from one of his lectures at the recent 2008 National Podium Project in Las Vegas. I taped 3 lectures and

Dan should have his own theme song! 🙂

Seriously, though, great info. Every time that I hear Dan speak I am inspired to reflect. I was looking over my Level III notes from 2003 and got excited. I’ve seen parts of this HJ lecture before and thought it was very sound. Some real technical gems were dropped along with some subtle hints for training design and management.

Of course you’ve seen the lecture before….I sent you his powerpoint before Vegas 🙂

Mike, how infrequent a poster before one becomes classified as a lurker? 🙂 🙂

OK, its the holiday season so I will go easy:

          1. The PSU Hoops team just won its first game against a ranked team. Any connection to the fact that KT is no longer hogging all the Ath Dept bandwidth, photocopier time and other such… : )
          2. Much like the town that went without ice for their drinks because the person with the recipe died, I lost the Sudoku/NYTimes Crossword puzzle-like secret password protocol to access my blog…

aside from the poster with 522 rants and the best article on the site calling the poster with 345 posts a lurker.

Pfaff talks about things you rarely hear from other high jump coaches who “specialize” at the event other, an exception being the poster with 522 rants who certainly cemented some of my thoughts with his only article on ET. Why do I still hear high jump coaches or dwight stones at meets or non HPC or USATF clinics referring to you have to practice in-air motions or you have to lean inwards more or your approach distance needs to be set from the beginning of the season till the end of the season? I really like Pfaff because he really discusses the things that corrects the visible symptoms seen in performance.
