Anybody ever suffer from it, and, how did you get over it?
I've been battling this thing for over a year now. Most stubborn injury I've ever had.
Just got my custom orthotics this week. Hopefully that works..nothing much else does.

First of all I hate orthotics as they have a weakening/shortening of the muscles/fascia of the feet.  When I was battling plantar fascitis I decided to scrap my high heeled running shoes and progress down into flats and some barefoot running.  Obviously I did some other things as well(more to follow).  After a few months it was completely gone.  I do not advocate a jump right into flats though, but instead progress from regular shoes, to lightweight trainers, to a marathon flat, to a less substantial flat.

What I did in conjunction with the barefoot/flat training, which helped loosen up the entire lower leg, was paid special attention to my gastroc, soleus, and foot flexibility and tissue quality (with self-myofascial release stuff).  Following runs I would ice the feet, and then a little bit later I would roll a golf ball along the fascia (this is also self-myofascial release).

          Good luck.

Orthotics would lengthen, not shorten the fascia.  I have them and I like them, no problems so far.
