Hi all, I'm an olympic lifter who would like to add some sprints and plyometrics to my regimen Do any of you have any ideas for a good routine I could do once a week that would incorporate plyometrics with some short distance sprints. Specifically, I was wondering which I should do first (sprinting or plyos), which plyos I should do and how many, and if there was a ideal routine for building power using sprints. Thanks so much for any opinions you can offer.

theres dozens of threads on this. use the search function at the top.
i would do sprinting before your plyos.
i would keep the sprints really short =nothing over 40 yards.
vary your sprint starts from a standing start to crouch, to lying on the ground. do something like 3 of each and vary your distances from 10-30 meters.
plyometrics i would use tuck jumps/hurdle hops, depth jumps, single leg bounding, standing long jumps, standing triple jumps (u dont have to use sand for those but it would be nice so u dont hurt yourself if u slip.
i wouldnt do all of those exercises in one day because ur lifting as well but add variety and pick 3 plyos for each workout. keep the reps in the moderate range nothing crazy …something like 2-3 sets of 8.
for you i would do these exercises after u lift because ur a lifter primarily but u could use them before but u have to try it out and see what works for you, u dont want ur lifts to suffer because ur already tired. if u have the time just have a long period of time in between running and lifting.

flight05, thanks for the tips. I apologize if there are threads on combining sprinting with plyometrics, but I was unable to find any (i only saw ones that talked about combining plyos with weight training). I would apreciate any direction as to where I can find these threads.

Check out the new Inno-sport DVD. There is a great section on the proper use of Plyo's and how they really contribute to your power.
