well dude, it took about 2 years for my right hammy to not open up during an intensive sprint, and another year until it stopped hurting or feeling weird during and after runs.
probably it could have healed faster, but after it opened up 7 times or something in the beginning i went on doing only weight lifting, and one beautiful morning last winter i went down to the track and everything was ok again….
and now i fwacked up my left hammy, ahrg.whatever, i´m confident that you can get your hammy healed, maybe it'll take more time than you want it too, but our body is capable of somewhat everything short of flying, so fixing a little hammy shouldn't be a deal. now you'll have to find out what your body needs to do the job.
good luck. -
i am getting deep tissue massage but right now im only going to therapy once a week. dont know what ART is, maybe you can explain that one to me. i really only feel the pain when i get down in my runningback stance and stretch it. those are really the only two times i feel it and when im just starting to run. i havent tried to sprint because im scared it will futher damage it and then ill have to wait a longer period of time to heal. this has been nagging me since december then it went away for part of outdoor and its back, its really disheartining when you work so hard and an injury holds your progress….

how is it possible for an injury to never heal? doesnt make any sense at all though
-
All injuries can heal but usually never to the status where they would be if the injury didn't occur in the first place. That's not to say that it can't be faster, stronger, and more powerful. It just means that it will probably be less so than if it were never injured in the first place. Also, previous injuries to the musculotendonous unit are more likely to be reinjured.
As indicated above post-injury rehab is very important to ensure that the injury not only heals but heals in the correct way with minimal residual side effects.

I had a severe hamstring pull and an ankle reconstruction within a couple months of each other and never ran within 0.3 of my 100m pr again. In most cases though people tend to recover to equal or better than before the injury as long as the injury wasn't extremely severe, it healed properly and you do appropriate training.
