Which do you like better the current main page or THIS TEST PAGE.

This was implemented based on some common feedback on the recent site redesign. I’m currently thinking that I’ll either:

1). Keep the main page as it currently is and use the new page as a completely separate “LATEST” page (minus the left side bar and the rotating image header) that will be linked to in the main menu, OR

2). Use the new test page as the main page and do away with the current main page format. The drawbacks of this option is that you will only see an unformatted shortened blog summary with no pictures and you can’t go directly to discussing the blog entry in the forum.

If you have any suggestions for alternative options I’d appreciate hearing them.

Latest page looks nicer but if I’m flipping through the latest forum posts via the main page, on the ‘latest’ I have to click the forum tab again every time I go back to grab the next post.

I like the way it is currently set up. I would just love to have that forum tab accessible in the forum itself, instead of having to go back to the main page.

As with most others, I’d like to echo Chad’s thoughts.

What I like about the new one is that the list of the latest forum posts is much longer. Right now topics get buried very quickly and I think we lose some feedback.

Thanks all for the feedback. I’ll keep the mainpage as is and once the tabbed page gets the kinks worked out I’ll create a “latest” page, then I’ll try to include an extended latest forum posts on the forum. The last one is actually very hard to do because of the way the forum parses data.

Any feedback on the current setup (click on the Latest & Greatest link in the header menu)…I know it’s not completely what was suggested above BUT I switched it so that the forum posts appear as the default opened tab (eliminating a step of the previous setup) and it does make it so that the top 30 forum posts are readily visible. Also, by the end of the week, I should be done with a rating tool for members to rate blog posts and articles and there will be a top rated blog entries tab and a top rated articles tab on the Latest & Greatest page.
