I have a problem. Ill try to explain it as simple as possible and hopefully someone can help me out here, any help is greatly appreciated, even if it is just a link to a article. My problem i believe is that i am not able to fully use my full power output because of either my form or unknown factor. for alittle backround info on me, my prs are 100m-11.21 200m-21.96 400m- 49.36 600m- 121.39. my vertical is 42", and my max squat 325.In my races i seem not to generate enough power through 50m. ithought it was perhaps my cheap shoes, which are very flexible ( nike zoom rivals) and simple. When i changed over to my superflys i felt more of a push through 30m and extremely better traction throughout the race, but although i felt more power output BUT i was not getting faster and in fact i actually ran consistly slower in the 100m in my superflys ( around .3-.4 slower every time than when i run in my rivals). It is exremely aggravating because when i run in my rivals i feel i can go faster but the shoes themselves are not allowing my maximum power transfer to the track and thus i am not running faster. also, i find my self running tippy toe around top speed, which could be a reason why i can run faster in the rivals. Also, i believe it is a power transfer problem because i often feel light on my feet but the way that im not able to put out all my strength.and i know this sounds wierd haha buttt i feel that it could be a sign- i dont have really good balance like when standing on a moving bus. Is there anyway to maximize power transfer or does anyone have any opinions or thoughts on this? perhaps orthotics could help maybe? i know this is all bunched up and some facts are probably missing, im just distressed! but any help , like i said, is greatly appreciated, thanks

This is my uneducated guess.
You've psyched yourslef into believing you are slower in the fist 50m due to your looking at your times and realizing there is a problem. Now you are trying too hard over the first 50 in the 100, straining tensing, etc, which is causing you to accelerate slower than if you were relaxed. I think thats why your 100 time is slow compared to the 200 and 400, because you are more relaxed in a longer race due to the fact that the races dont rely on a great start as much.
I hope that made sense, but thats my only guess.

i find my self running tippy toe around top speed,
THAT´S what your problem is all about! I had exactly the same feeling, Try having your foot more dorsi flexed (toes up) and lean a litle more forward, This worked absolutely wonders with my speed 🙂 Also try stepping over your knee, that will make sure your foot hits the ground better.

hey guys thanks for your comments. Scoots, i do find myself trying to push through 50 meters and people tell me i tighten up right out of the blocks, so i will work on trying to stay relaxed and not worry about that first 50. Big M, i will try having my foot come down in the dorsi flex position and try to step Over my knee and hopeefully i can get this down. thanks again guys

"will try having my foot come down in the dorsi flex position and try to step Over my knee"
Couldn't have said it better myself. Focus on keeping your neck, face, and shoulders relaxed in practice as well, and you should find that it helps to keep you relaxed overall when you race.

You're problem is as the very least not DIRECTLY related to your spikes. It seems you may have a problem with acceleration mechanics if you don't feel fast through 50m. The key points to efficient acceleration are progressive body angles, big complete pushes with less frequency moving to faster more vertically directed pushes with greater frequency.
