Pro Day Training

Very very impressive!! I hope all the variables (weather etc..) go his way on pro day.

Cool vid. Is that Baylor or the place you work in Boston?
I think someone asked a question in another thread about splitting up his upper and lower weight workouts. I was curious why you decided to do that.
I’m also interested how much specific test work you did? Was it all at full blast? I’ve always found it tricky to incorporate all of the tests in to training and still satisfy my OCD for compatible and complimentary training. In many regards Pro day training is like a low-end (not low as in bad but as in but high force, less elastic tests) power decathlete.

The Great Gazoo needs glasses. How’d you miss the Red Sox logo in the background?
Carl, Thanks for incorporating a tripod in filming! One thing I saw, if this is meant to be a promotional film you might correct the tagging of Oklahoma University to read, University of Oklahoma
I like the pre-activation in the throws. Do you track the difference between standing OHB & BLF vs. the potentated ones? If yes, what differences do you find and what do you do with that info going forward?
How did you address the need to “improve the wiring” at a time where he was just coming off a full season of competition?
All in all, Very Impressive.

I bet Dallas would murder those tests!
-
Mike will have test numbers…im not totally sure, but he’d be better than 95% of those guys i’m sure. I know a bunch of people with better test numbers than that. But they don’t play football.

really….he must be one freak of a athlete…thomas white had a 10ft 10in standing long jump thats would be one of the highest in this years combine…
-
whats 10’10? – 3.25cm ? something like that…
And that would win? Doesn’t say much for the others then.
-
i think its around 330cm…

I think Dallas could do 26 reps at 225 lbs. That’s off recollection. He used to do some of that stuff before I started working with him. We obviously never tested that when he was with me. His clean and squat were actually not terribly impressive. He was strong but not as strong as what I’ve seen show up on the internet. With that said, he would’ve done very well at a pro day test. He almost certainly would’ve been the top 40 yard guy. I’m guessing, he could have run 4.1x for 40 yards. His acceleration was good but his 30-40-50m was better. His bench press (assuming we trained for it) would have been the best for position; and his VJ was around 42 inches. We didn’t test SLJ but I’m guessing he would’ve been a little under 11. I have no idea what he’d do for agility tests.
For a combination, jumper (SLJ, VJ) and 40 yard test, my money would be on Walter Davis at his peak.
I think Tom’s stats are great. You can tell he’s been trained well because he performs well at all the tests. This isn’t something that occurs by just talent alone. The talent-and-no training guys typically do well at one or 2 of the tests but not all of them.

Hatin’
Well, he’s better than me so I ain’t gonna hate on him.
Good job!

Donald just went 45in vj and 11’3 slj..
-
Wow now that is incredible!

45in vert is insane…could that be the highest vert in nfl history[/quote]
I think they said top 3:
Linebacker Derek Wake was one of the shocks of the 2005 NFL combine when he turned in a 45 1/2 inch vertical jump.

we must give twhite credit because the sprints was done on a shitty grass field.
-
Yeah heard all of the times were horrible. Didn’t their fairly quick QB run a 4.8 or something? It was supposedly just a pretty poorly run pro day. Hopefully he can get another one in.
False… The QB ran 4.5’s..

One WR ran 4.4’s.
-
Where are the results from their pro day? It looks like a lot of them have times listed, but no date/place/etc.?
Not sure what you are asking, but you have to be a member to have full access to the site..

Ran 4.5’s according to the scouts report, surface was TERRIBLE! Skill players were running between 4.8-5.0, I don’t think anyone else broke 4.70! The grass had just been laid and the roots haven’t taken. As a result the grass was torn up and sandy with potholes and zero traction. Everyone in attendance said it was amazing I was able to run that time given the conditions, I’m running again in about 3 weeks on a decent surface and the times should reflect that…….
Those other times are estimations for guys who aren’t seniors yet.

I knew you would log in soon, I thought David was a SR? I think you should be good for 4.4’s on a good surface, you should have attended Texas A&M proday. You need to sue that site for posting up false times, they are usually accurate.
-
Look like they reported accurate times from texas a&m pro day.

Running back Mike Goodson (5-11 ¾, 212 pounds) ran the 40 in 4.43 and 4.47 seconds
-
They also run with a rubber mat over the astroturf at A&M! Those times are entertainment only, I have 3-4 teams that have reported 4.5 so I have no reason to believe otherwise.

WOW, my point is the site is accurate, thats why I posted Mike Goodson time which is the same nfl.com reported. Compare all the times on the nfl.com site and they are the same, entertainment or not they are accurate. Nothing to worry about because Im sure you will run 4.4’s your next shot, even through you promise me 4.3’s on any surface.

4.3’s in training in Boston on astroturf, 4.41 combine style on slow fieldturf last year. I’m for action over talk but I can assure you that on a fair surface I will run what I am capable of. I can only report to me what times I have been told and the slowest so far is a 4.57, I don’t know what timer reported the listed time but it is inconsistent with the times that scouts have reported. Unfortunately, refusing to run at the Pro Day was not an option and I will have to run again on a realistic surface to show my speed. I’ll keep you posted!

I think you will be ok bro, where are you running next? Maybe BigJohn wasnt bad after all. 🙂

At SMU or UTA and some teams have been interested in having private workouts so we will see what happens with that. The teams in attendance seemed to be pleased with my performance and I interviewed with a number of them afterwards. I just want to run on a surface consistent with the one in Indy, I’m not looking for anything special. Just a chance to compete on a similar surface and let the scouts decide from there.
Big John wasn’t as bad as people made on, we lifted heavy and did a lot of OL’s. Maybe the running volume was too high but other than that it was better than many programs I’ve seen.

Yeh, I know BJ would have hosted a better pro day then KAZ, I just dont understand why they would do such a thing unless they didnt care since you guys are not there recruits.
