          I’ve been watching these infomercials for over a year now. It seems to me that alot of what the maker of this exercise DVD does as far as theory is similar to a T&F periodization cycle. I was thinking of buying this to try it out as something new. Has anyone had any experience with the P90X DVDs? Does anyone have them, or know anyone that does?

          I did it for about 3 weeks. It wasn’t because I didn’t like it, responsibilities got in the way of being able to keep up. If you do it, be prepared to get lots of dumbbells. We moved through the weights pretty quickly.

          He hits you with a lot. The chest and back day is really demanding. My buddy did something like 230 push ups in one workout. You’re quite sore when you start, but you can definitely see differences as you go along. Plyos is tough and yoga is BORING…same damn move for about 45 minutes. The Ab Ripper and Kenpo are great workouts. I’m thinking of incorporating the Kenpo into my high school team’s workouts; would be a good recovery day workout.

          The host gets pretty annoying, he can’t stop talking and a lot if it is cliches. But you do have the option of shutting him up if you want.

          Overall I think it’s a pretty good program and I definitely noticed an increase in strength during my time doing it.

          I had a bunch of guys in my office who have been doing P90x. It sounds kind of lame to me. My understanding is it operates on the principle of muscle confusion. I like this – and try to incorporate elements of this in my training – on Low CNS days.

          Could be a good thing to use as indoor alternatives to GS and GE work in GPP phase. Or even end of season active recovery.

          One guy at my office did it – ex College D1 Football player – and said he was sore as hell – but that it was not a good workout to use as part of a serious training day.

          It might be the perfect solution for the wife/GF workout question I posted though.
