    Recovery for lower back

          Last year I hurt my lower back and hip joint during the indoor season. I went to a chiropractor and he fixed it.
          He didn't give me very many stetches to do for it though. Now it is being to hurt again, what kinds or stretches or exercises are there for your lower back right above yout hip?

          Do low level exercises to strengthen the spinal extensors like swimmers, hyper-extensions, etc. Also be sure to strengthen the abdominal muscles and check to see if hamstring tightness might be the cause of the problem. In which case, PNF stretching may be quite useful.

          I am not familiar with what PNF stretching is. I have seen lots of people post about it but never understood exactly what it is. Could you tell me and give me some examples of PNF stretches for the lower back. thanks

          Any type of stretching that facilitates or aims to have a specific neuromuscular response can be classified as PNF. The most common form consists of the following sequence:
          1. stretch for 10-20 second hold
          2. contract isometrically for 5-10 seconds
          3. stretch with greater range of motion held for 10-20 sedonds
