          What is the recommendation for the total amount is reps? First year of weight training so just working on 3-1-3 with about 80%. Doing cleans, squats, and bench. In gpp phase right now.

          I would think you'd want to drop the intensity a bit and do sets of maybe 8 on Squats and Bench and 5 on cleans.

          Actually I looking for the total amount of reps. presently the sets are 5 on bench and squats and 3 on cleans.

          In gpp, I'd say 20-30 for bench and squat, and 9-15 for oly lifts.

          Since it's your first year of lifting, I agree with delldell's numbers. As you progress, these can get up to the 36-42 and 20-24 ranges respectively.

          Would squats be termed an olympic lift. 9-15 squats doesn't seem like much.

          Olympic lifts = clean + jerk or snatch and any of the many variations of these lifts are usually referred to as olympic lifts especially in sports outside of olympic lifting circles
