ok here it is, i start my 04/05 training tomorrow. all that planning and thinking and researching and stuff is coming out. some facts about me:
          height: 5’9″ (maybe 10)
          weight: 150 lbs
training age: 6 seasons (one semi serious half year plan)
          PRs:
          60m: 7.70 FAT
          60mH: 9.37 FAT
          100: 11.6 ht, 11.93 FAT
          110HH: 15.7 ht
          200: 24.8 ht
          300mH: 41.99 FAT
          400: 58.21 FAT

          indoor goals:
          60: 7.60 FAT
          60H: 9.20 FAT
          200: 24.60 FAT
          300: no clue… give me a goal
          400: 56.00 FAT

ive provided FAT times where i was able to get them. i only ran one 100m race FAT, and some real bad ones in the 110HH (like 17.0, i ignore them because they werent even close to what i could do). FAT isnt common in high school up here except at the county championships and above, but all indoor meets are FAT so thats where ill see what i need to see. questions and comments are always welcome. and based off my 300mH time could someone give me an example of what i should be able to run in the 300m open? ive never ran that race before. alright im excited 😀

          10x15paces from belly
          2×10 clap pushups
          super wide squat: 5@45, 5@45, 5@45, 5@65, 5@65
          wide bench: 5@45, 5@65, 5@65, 5@65, 5@65
          upright row: 5@15, 5@20, 5@25, 5@30, 5@35
          2×10 squat jumps

alright first day went pretty well. the only problem is i felt a little slow on the sprints. there could be a number of reasons for that, however, as it was windy, i was wearing a lot of gear, and i was on grass. also my strength is down substantially im sure. in the words of a poster on another forum, ‘i am so weak i should be euthanized.’ just kidding. i get my squat rack tomorrow so ill no longer have to clean everything for all my exercises. i can start liting a lot heavier. i can feel it now…once i get strong ill be the fastest person to grace a track EVA EVA EVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          work
i meant to do some tempo and circuits…but yeah. i need to work on doing my low intensity work. i wish school would start so id have PE! anyways i did freight today so it was kind of an active recovery. i wish i had got more blood flowing into my lower body though.

im not sure exactly what i expected from this workout, certainly not puking. it was my fault though, stuffing myself on sweet and sour chicken then running my most physically tiring workout of the week. oops. i need to clean up my diet, im experimenting with oils again tomorrow to see if i can make food that actually TASTES GOOD.

          Sepember 17, 2004
          10x short hills
          2×10 clap pushups
          narrow bench: 8@45, 5@65, 5@95, 5@115, 5@135
wide pullups: 3 or 4 sets of 5
          front squat: 5@45, 5@65

the drama from the day before continued and i stopped my workout before i could finish it. so basically this week was a bit of a failure. i hit all my high intensity workouts, but didnt finish them all, and didnt do any recovery workouts. will work on that next week.

          2×10 clap pushups
          wide bench: 5@45, 5@65, 5@95, 5@115, 5@135
          upright row: 5@15, 5@25, 5@35, 5@45, 5@55
          squat: 5@45, 5@65, 5@95, 5@115, 5@135 (first two sets were ultra wide)

ok this was a BIT better. i had a friend with me which was cool. hes not really close to my speed though, which isnt cool. but anyways. i didnt take the time to do my squat jumps cuz i had to get my friend home and it was 11:30 and my girlfriend was kinda pissed cuz i worked til 9 and tried to make time for my workout. i almost got a ticket too . that was scary. anyways, things are getting better. ill have a workout planned for tomorrow too, unlike last week.

missed weights because it was 11… anyways this was a bad workout. my friend beat me about half of our runs, i dont know why i was so sluggish. im going to just write it off as a bad workout and slightly cut some volume next week.

this was tough and my training partner threw up. we originally were scheduled for 3 runs, but i dont think another run at that pace was gonna happen. i think i overestimated my shape and yeah. just a few more days and ill have completed all my workouts this week!!!

          cleans: worked up to 165×5

this was the first time back in the old weight room at school. strangely all the weights there felt hella light. cleaning 165 was a piece of cake. i might have been able to do more but i had to get to work.

          200m: 23.xx (FAT)
          300m: 37.xx (FAT)

im not going to worry about goals too much though. ill train hard and get stronger and in better shape and hopefully everything will fall into place.

the circuit was hard for some reason, might be because i increased the weight quite a bit. and ive been super hungry, i need more food.

alright i need to get my act together. for whatever reasons, the only training ive been doing has been PE since my lat entry. though ive obviously been getting better physically, i can grab rim now with a one step start. and i can still touch it with the one step start after an hour of basketball. so ill do maxV tomorrow.

ok today i was PUMPED. man gatlin and them are lucky i cant move my ankle cuz i woulda ran a 9.5. hahaha. im not doing military press anymore as my shoulders dont like it, ill do inclines instead. so for now im going to do push squat pull, doing one each day ona 3 day cycle til i work up to some heavy weights again. and once my ankle heals ill change things up again, unless i start feeling i need to space my weight workouts apart. so i didnt ened up squatting today ill do it tomorrow.

im pretty proud of how well my rows are going, normally i suck horribly at them. im getting close to my 15rm i think, but im gonna keep going until i have to start lowering reps. im also getting kind of antsy about lifting heavier. i want to max!!!!!!!!!!! ill hold back for now though….

this was a pretty good workout, the 120 felt easy i might be able to hit my 15RM@140 if im lucky. ill run some more sprints tomorrow before my squats so i can be better prepared for the indoor meets coming up. i dont think ill run hurdles in the first meet, perhaps just the 60 and 200.

most of the sprints felt mediocre, but the second one felt nice. i still felt like i had speed, just not as much as i wanted. squats were good, i actually dont think im anywhere near my 15rm yet. the last few reps on the 15 set are kinda hard, but not THAT hard. i think i might lump all my weight sessions together and drop the assistance so i can get more work in before the meet.

my training partner of sorts was over for this session. the 125×15 was pretty easy, i only struggled on the last two reps. but he has a way of making me laugh without doing anything because of some incidinces in the weight room and the last 3 sets were pretty hard for only 7 reps. just ine week…

          60: 7.71
          200: 25.15

so i ran the worst 60 ever. i was overstriding all over the place, off balance, etc. im not happy about it. im not too happy about the 200 either, its probably around 25.00, but i cant expect too much from that race since i have horrible endurance. though at the same time, im around PR form so that means i can set PRs before the season starts. i saw my old rival from junior high and hes gotten a LOT faster. i didnt even think hed kee doing track, but he has and its paid off. i used to beat him all over the place, but now hes faster than me in every event, except maybe hurdles. so i got some work to do. im still comin alex!

35mish from blocks and standing start (i only have one set and i had a friend)
2s4r tuck jumps over lowest hurdle setting (30in?)
clean: workde up to a few reps at 155
          bench: worked up to 130×15
          squat: worked up to 130×1

ok this was another late night workout so i didnt finish the squats or net over rows. i hate my schedule, i have no time to do anything. teran beat me in a couple 35m dashes, but i got my act togther towards the end and started laying a pounding. i need training partners more often, the other hurdler is a bum. i dont think ill get faster without competition though so ill take anyone that comes along.

well im a little sore today, but not as much as last meet. ive decided to switch up my plan a little, and focus on short accel dev and stride frequency. i was bombin in the fall so i know 7.7s shouldnt be happenin. i got some grass hills nearby and ill do block starts at the school. im gonna lift heavy this week and try and max again this friday. ill aim for a 190/195 clean and a 185/190 bench. also i wanna squat 200+ and ima do some heavy front squats. my quads have always been week and it sucks. also i found out the top female hurdler for 3A kingco is in my spanish class. maybe she knows some fast dudes i can run with, since all my training partners are bums. im gonna destroy that 60 next meet.

and hopefully go sub 25 in the 200. being beat by 14 year olds is garbage.

i was planning on 8 hills, but it was WAY too windy. so i headed to the weight room. it should work out fine since im going to do more blocks on sunday. i think i might have been able to get 180×3, but i didnt try the third rep. i benched 185, i had to do it twice cuz the first bar i used was 8 pounds lighter, so i did 177 instead of 185. then i did 185, and failed 190. my teammate (the junior who has a better PR than me in the 110s) started bragging and being a dick so ive made a decision. he will never beat me again,

i still didnt manage to pull it together, even though both of these races were PRs (.04 and .01 respectively). i had to take a dump during the hurdles, which really prevented me from getting the start i wanted. that carried over to the rest of my race, as i didnt get the speed going intot the first hurdle. the 60 im not sure what happened. i had a good start, though definately not as good as the ones in practice. right when i should have been going my fastest was when people started to pull away. i was also in a really fast heat. im not worried about it too much though. the races that really count are still 15 weeks away and i know ill pull everything together in a competitive setting before then.

          my first pair of spikes
          2001- february 13, 2005

last night i took the spikes out of my old meteors, but this time i didnt put another set in. after nearly 5 seasons of service, i was finally retiring them.

born sometime in 2001, they came into my possesion after my first two track meets in 8th grade. i had decided that i wanted to run in spiked shoes finally, and had already ran 13.6 and 13.5. perhaps an indicator of our good days to come, i ran my first 100m (and only timed one of the season in them) in 12.6. though my freshman and sophomore years were mediocre in the 100 (12.6 and 12.3), my hurdle times dropped dramatically. these werent of course, because of the shoes, but because of how much we have seen together, it gives them a certain sentimental value for me. they were even stolen from me once, and the thief is lucky i didnt find them along with my shoes. my first 110 hurdle race was 19.0, and things only got better. 4 years later, i have dropped 2 seconds in the 100, 3.3 in the 110s, and 4 or 5 in the 300s. all… in one pair of shoes.

guys, youll always be with me, even if you arent the ones on my feet.

my hrdle team mate showed up at the track and i ran with him a little bit. we raced a couple times, i beat him twice and he beat me once. he would be ahead for about 20-25m and then i would start to get in my groove.

sorry, don’t wanna interfere. but to me it seems like you are dong a lot of weight training. it can take the body a while to recover from weights. especially as it seems you do weights then speed the next day. dave lease told me the cycle should be something like speed, strength, endurance, rest. of course this means 4 day cycles, which means an 8 day ‘week’ so not that practical.

yeah i do do a lot of weights. im gonna cut back a little bit, one time i lifted 3 days in a row. i normally only do weights the day before or after a speed day if i have an additonal day to recover. otherwise the weights i lift are very low.

this felt good. i think ill more or less take the rest of this week off to let my hip flexor recover. then ill train one last week hard and volume will drop again once the season starts. my hurdle coach gave me almost full control over the teams workouts btw. :spin:

this was decent for my first practice back on the relay. i run second leg now, which feels strange. my 110s were pretty good i think. im working on my lead leg so i can better use my speed. thursday will be an amazing meet. unfortunately, im running 4 events.

CS, let me guess…your right leg is your lead leg. Many time after hurdleing hard/fast your lead leg will really bother you

yeah it is. ive experienced the discomfort before, but my track coach wanted us to run the 400s fast, which aggravated it.

they want to make me better at the 300s. but seriously, im top5 in the 110s in washington, and im not even ranked in the 300s. i think im gonna have a bit of a chat with my hurdle coach, because the 110s are where my heart is, and it always has been. im just not built for long sprinting, mind or body.

looking at washington state meet stats, it takes sub 40 in the 300s to get to the final, and sub 15 will get me top5 in the 110 final. generally. my best 300 time this year has been 42.1 (twice) and my PR is 41.99. 2 seconds away from even having an impact.

Talk to your coach. The 300ih may be good for training in the begining of the season. But you should definately concentrate just on the 110’s goining into the post season if that is what you like and are good at. Good luck. You can run a sub 15 F.A.T.

the 110 prelims were good, i ran the second best race of my life (equivalent to a 15.2 ht) and beat my teammates PR again. the finals were ridiculous. i messed up my rhythm and ended up running horrible. when they called me to the podium, they said my prelims time!

the 4×1 was good until the last handoff, which was completely botched. i got the baton in first, got rid of it in first, and we were in first until the last handoff. and we were in lane 8.

the 300s were another mediocre race. ive actually ran this time twice this season. i was in the lead til the final straight, and it was a weird race.

ok worst meet ever. every year this meet gives me problems. last year i fell, the year before i ran .8 below my PR. it was delayed 2 HOURS because of the weather. i was just taking it easy in the 110s, but i think i took it too easy. the 300s i got DQed for the first time in my life because i cheated going over the hurdle on the curve. quite obnoxious.

          season in review…

well i was much more dedicated this season and i learned a lot. some things:

-weights, track, plyos in one session does not work, it ends up being 3-4 hours with proper recovery.

          -too much lifting is counterproductive

-1-2 weeks should be perfect for peaking

          -recovery work is necesary

-fast food may make you gain weight:P

-balancing school, work, and track can work

          -injurys suck

          -consistency is very important

          -lots of meets is bad

          -nutrition may be important

          PRs…
unfortunately i didnt get to run many events, and so only got to break one PR big.
