As I was putting together my team for the IAAF World Championships Fantasy League…I started to look through the IAAF lists to make sure I wasn't missing anyone to put on my team.  As someone who doesn't look at the world rankings list too often, the thing that really stood out to me was how amazing the Russian women are. They are AT LEAST as good and deep as our men's and women&

There monopoly on the jumps is similar to Kenya's dominance on the Steeple chase 5 years ago.

BTW- I'm not taking ignoring the influence of PEDs. But regardless, I'm impressed with their systematic, highly developed training system.

Yea they are dominant but now they're jumping 23'6" instead of 25'  🙂  PED downgrade.  Jumps are still good but I miss my 10.8, 21., and 47 from the European women.

Not Russian, but remember this one (same meet Powell supposedly went 8.99):
          Heike Dreschler       GER  7.63 w 92/07/21  +2.1  Sestriere

That is my main supporting evidence that drug use has gone WAY down (both in dosage amounts and in number of athletes using). That Sestrierre meet was pretty crazy but it was more than just the runways and the athletes….those marks are SERIOUSLY aided by the altitude of Sestrierre.

PED use is definately downgraded from it's peak 15 years ago, but having observed the Russians up close still I have to put them in the bad guys column on that subject.

The what and when has changed, but the people pulling the strings have not.

Talent ID as coach can be very fun and  rewarding 1,2,3 a podium sweep for the Russian women
