The title pretty much explains it. I’m trying to get a scholarship to GT primarily in LJ, but my coach made me aware of the possibility of a scholarship solely based in long jump is very unlikely unless I was in the 25/26 foot range (Yeah right). I understand that GT is a highly competitive school for track, but haven’t found any scholarship standard charts online. Right now, you’re probably wondering “Well, he must be flying if he’s thinking about GT.” Yes and no. This is only my second year doing track itself. In fact, last year, my PR for LJ was 18’3″. LOL. Not even going to mention my 200 because it’s so atrocious; and I didn’t even do hurdles last year.
As much as a long shot I am, I’m pretty confident that by spring I can get a scholarship due to my intense train last spring and this summer. My PR rose 3’2″ just that summer. So do you have an idea of what a D1 school like GT would be looking for in a combination of these events? Any nationally ranked competitions I should be aware of to gain some recognition? And, in your personal opinion, what are my chances? Probably not good. 🙂
