I am writing this pleading that someone can give me help on this topic. I have a high school girls 4×100 who is a week away from our district meet (right before states.) 3 of the 4 girls on the team have been solid runners for me the past three years. The fourth is a junior who is also a solid runner in the hurdles. We have the capability to make the state meet, but three of the four girls have senioritis. They have had it all season long: missing practice, getting hired for summer jobs, loosing interest in the sport, etc.
As a coach, I am dumbfounded as to why this what happened. These girls used to be so reliable. One of the girls has made it to states in the sprints, but she has lost interest this year.
This exact 4×100 team missed the state meet by one place last year and all of them returned this year.
My question is how have some of you dealt with senioritis in high school being that it is a spring sport and high school kids have so much going on?
Senioritis
