    Shift to Unilateral Training

          I was wondering if anyone goes from two legged lifts early in the season to single leg lifts later in the year? For example 2 foot jump squats to explosive step ups. Or two foot squats to heavy step ups? Thanks for your time.

          The way my program is set up is that most of the lifting is still done with two legs….but a lot of the explosive training such as med ball throws and plyometrics shifts to unilateral when the athlete is ready.

          Early on in the year, I’ll generally have two of my core lower body lifts be double support and one be unilateral….like 2 days of squatting and 1 day of lunges. Later in the year that might shift to 1 and 2. Basically we do unilateral work all year round in some form and we also do double support (mostly heavy back squat) all year round as well.
