I recently got the Nike zoom JSC and the Nike Zoom LJ for Christmas. I have a few questions about them. For the JSC should I limit using them only at meets or could i train in them too. They’re awfully light and I’m afraid they may wear out after a while.

My other question is for the Zoom LJ. Could they be used for the triple jump also.

I wouldnt use spikes that I wear at meets during training with the exeption of block starts. Spikes break down very easily and the more you wear them the softer they get. Ever notice when you first buy spikes the plate is rigid and you feel like you get better push?

The JSC’s break down especially fast since they are so light and there isnt much to them. So just wear them at meets.

The zoom lj you can wear for triple however you may want to get a pair of seperate triple jump spikes if you are the type who is prone to bruising your heel. Triple jumps spikes have more cshion on the heel. LJ spikes are better for TJ then regular sprinting spikes however.

We ussually run all of our speed workouts in spikes however, the JSC’s are based on Michael Johnson’s famous 1996 gold shoes and I know that they were made to be worn only 1 time. I believe MJ wore a new pair for each round.

Actually, they were built to last a few races, I believe it was 4 races for each pair.

          Nick,
no the acutal ones MJ wore only lasted that long. It can be a combination of the materials that those were actually made out of and also the amount of force he was generating and the speed he was running at did a great number on his shoes. Im sure if one of us wore them theyd last alot longer. The JSC’s available to us im sure are much different and much more durable however they are still a very light shoe that does not have much to it so they will not last as long as say a pair of superflys with a hard spike plate and better materials.

          Correct.

MJ’s original Gold shoes were roughly 2 ounces. The JSCs have more to them and can certainly be used for a full season, and usually more than that.

          https://www.nike.com/speed/genealogy

When the second window opens, go to 1996 and find the “Gold Shoe” and click on that.

when you shop, buy two pairs of the same shoe.

the superfly’s will rip if the shroud touches the surface

          still, nike aint’ no joke.
