Hey all! I’m a highschool sprinter looking for some advice on flexibilty. I have read a few studies that say that a high level of muscle stiffness is good for short distance sprinters. Studies such as this one;
Now, My muscles are very stiff already, If I try to touch my toes (while standing) I can only reach about halfway down my shins. I want to know whether I should remain this stiff, or work to become more stiff, or work to increase my flexibility to improve my sprinting.
If it helps, I am about 125 pounds and 5’9 maybe 5’10. Last year I ran 11.6 in the 100m and 23.8 in the 200m. This year I’ve started to train and learned how to use the blocks properly, among other things…
