I've read that Wilt could high jump 6' 6" and could snatch a coin from the top of the back board so who knows
I saw Spud Webb play a game of pick up ball at NC State and he had mad mad hops so that I believe and whether it's Michael Jordan, Marion Jones, or Michael Johnson, I can believe 40+
I have a picture of Valerey Brummel kicking a rim, now that's impressive!!!
I've heard that some of our moderators can leap over a waffle house in a single bound!

First of all, we are talking about standing, not running. The NBA tests all their verticals running and jumping up to touch a spot on a vertical pole, and then they tack a few extra inches o nthere anyways. Spud was probably the closest to having a legit standing 40" vertical. But i think by far the guy withy the most hops ive ever seen with Michael "wild thing" Wilson who at 6'5 dunked on 12'. In the clip of it i have his head is like 3-4 inches from 11'!! do the math and thats roughly 50-52"! But this was running not standing.

Most colleges use the verticle jump pole tester. its basically a pole with little plasic flat bars your jump up and try to move over. Hard to explain.
Anyway.. first your reach is measured. Then you jump (most commonly using a drop step since that is how you jump while playing sports) and your reach is then subtracted by the height of the farthest bar you slid over. -
