Here's a great blog entry by Chris Sparling from thatsfit.com:Step in any gym in any city in any state in this entire country andyou're sure to find the same people. Of course not the exact samepeople, but the same types of people. Though their accents may differwhen they yell their rep count out loud and their music selection mayvary as it blares through their oversized headphones, these

Mike this has to be one of the funniest articles I have ever read.  In dealing with these people myself and other cohorts have found it necessary to resort to nicknames such as – tiny head – #1, the white ninja #2, the black ninja #9, white pants #3, no sleeves #6, and boots #5.  I'm sure they are all great people but they are even better characters.

I have seen all of these guys except for bob the builder and the doctor of style. I have seen the work of scarface, though, I am never able to catch him in the act.

I didn't write it but it is good stuff. It's funny how there's always one guy at every commercial gym who fits those descriptions. Thank God I have the luxury of staying out of commercial gyms.

I always loved the guys who tote around with a gallon of water in their hands as if they are walking through the Mohabe from one exercise to another.  They piss excellence.

. . . Or the guy who endlessly lifts his calf muscles because that is the last piece to his "physical perfection." He has exercises to isolate the gastroc and other ones to enhance the soleus.

I like the 13-25 year old males who l ike to do exercises like 1/4th shrugs, 1/8th squats, and calf raises with ridiculous loads to compensate for the fact that they can't lift anything near those amounts in a REAL lift of strength. These gym rats tend to travel in packs of 2-4, wear tight sleeveless shirts and baggy sweatpants and be the most vocal motivators in the gym ("You got that DOG!, "YOU OOWWNN THAT WEIGHT!" and "EEEEAZZEE" are the most frequently heard sound bites).  Rumor has it that the sweatpants they wear are to cover for their never-to-be shown lack of lower body development.
