    The Myth of Energy Systems

          After this mornings workout and watching a presentation on training adaptations, I don’t believe in conventional energy system development. Placing conditioning into convenient pie charts or ATP flow charts are nice in the classroom but are we getting the wrong information? Now that I am re-reading the Buchheit and Bishop sprint information, I am thinking we need to look at byproducts more than s

          I like the idea that all the systems turn on and contribute immediately just in varying degrees.

          Well said. There are a number of great coaches that would probably flunk a number of exercise physiology classes but still put athletes on podium. At times, knowledge can be a blessing and curse. Don’t let yourself get bogged down by details.

          Great post! I’m amazed at the discussions that take place out in forum world, most of which amount to johnson measuring contests.

          Also reminds me of those who feel compelled to micro-manage their diets. Instead, just make the right choices and things will fall nicely into place. Leave the weighing and measuring to the chubby ADA-trained dietician.

          Your advice to focus on velocity and distance is simple, yet profound.
