While this site is called Elite Track, Carl’s blogs sometimes address things that are going on in the training industry as a whole.
I think he’s trying to draw attention to the fact that some trainers are exhibiting cult-like behavior by embracing concepts such as training breathing, isolating the left ventricle, crawling around like babies, trying to cover 10 yards in 5 steps… all while living in an activation wonderland. I’ve often felt that many are focused on thinking outside the box long before they even have an understanding of what’s in the box.
Where does one draw the line? Do I train my left ventricle or snatch? Do I crawl around or squat? Will I have glute amnesia during my deadlifts if i don’t activate them beforehand? Many seem to be doing a little bit( volume-wise )of a lot of things all for the sake of time or efficiency. Will 2 max sets of bench or 4-6 x 10 yards really get the job done?
There’s plenty of high school coaches out there who have produced lots of state champions but how many of them have blogs, websites, or DVDS? The internet has changed the game and the competency bus is no longer driven by results. Carl is just shedding some light on this.
