I have an athlete that could not run this season because of grades. She is a very good talent, but is also very new to the sport. She’ll be with me from day one when my offseason training begins in July. However, with all her school issues out of the way, she’s able to start training again.
Once July hits, she’ll be fine. But should I start her training now to give her another 3-4 month head start? Or should I just wait until July to get her started for next season.
If she should start running now, what should she do? Keep in mind she hasn’t run a step since June 2009. Thoughts?
