Two weeks ago I travelled to Dublin, OH to speak at the National Throws Coaches Association Annual meeting. This is the 5th year of the association and I've spoken at each meeting. right i know this is a pretty old thread….i also know this as been discussed before…i just want to know what you think are the pros and cons of using westside program??..i think it could work well incoporated with oly lifts..do any athletes use westside or anything similar..i know the max effort method produces good results…is it suitable for athletes…

For training for sport I don’t think it’s the best option…especially for a sport like track where all biomotor abilities are required (as opposed to powerlifting).

I’ve actually personally used a WSBB setup for OLing (just training for that sport). I got such terrible results that I wanted to stop after 4 weeks but gave it a try for another 4 weeks. Same thing. It could have been how I set it up but I think it’s fairly specialized for sports where the emphasis is on strength rather than speed, power, coordination, etc.
