last year was my first year where we didn't start in late-August because we're on the quarter system and don't start school till Sept 27th. There were some returners around that I started with the first week of September so we were able to follow my "nornmal" plan.
In general would you:
1) keep the length of the general prep the same and shortern the spec prep period
2) shorten gen prep and keep spec prep the same
3) condense both so they are both a little closer to "normal"
my gut feeling is to stick with the general prep longer since the group is not very accomplished, technically developed and has a fairly young training age. I would think with this plan that certain technical teaching would have to carry later in the indoor season. Would this interfere with skill acquisition/stabilization qualities and timeframes?
Previously we'd test twice in the fall — one in mid/late September and then in mid-November. But since mid-November repsresents only week 6 as opposed to week 10-12 it's hard to decide how to compare the results. As time goes on I think/hope to create a culture where most of the returners are back and training by the first week of September — but it may be a year or two.
looking forward to thoughts/feedback
