my worst form in a while haha…

my left knee was measured at 14.15 and my right knee was remeasured at 13.71
          YES I LANDED KNEES FIRST

i need some help with my jump phase it has sucked my entire life….:splat:

i think what happened was my hop and step was so large that i got excited with the amount of hangtime i had on my jump phase that i started to hitch/fall apart in my jump phase

          thanks for your help

im not really that knowledgable in triple jump but what i did see was a very big hop try and run off it more. it should be a little more fluid in nature.

also there may be a bit of rotation in the final phase this can be fixed with proper knee and arm drive.

          hope that helps

well ur left arm is driving across ur body to ur right side in ur final phase. this would create an unwanted rotation. drive straight u will go further.

cool thanks i think im really out of control when i jump…i dont think about my arms at all…

i do in practice during bounding drills…
but i use double arm swings for bounding but i use one arm in the actual triple jump

          any suggestions for that

ummi try to focus on good arm technique and i know what good arm tech is …but in compeition i end up not doing it at all….

          thanks

Your jump phase is real funny, as in weird. Looks like ur doing a hitchkick or something out there. Staying in the take-off position until u need to stretch out to land is probobly one of the best things to do.

Why practice with two arms and then jump only using one? Practice how you perform, or perform how you practice. (That is, either change how you practice, or when you compete do what you do in practice.)

And yeah, your arms are all over the place. Need to pay attention to that, get your arms under control.

          i did bounding yesterday

as i bounded off my right leg i used one arm (step phase)
as i bounded off my left leg i used my two arm tech (jump phase)

…You were at the St. Pats meet correct?
I thought you won that TJ.
I pretty sure I saw the name ROB NICKELS on a open jump event sheet…
          In FIRST place too

flight05, Just got a chance to check out your video and cograds on your victory. Although I studied the single arm technique I was never a big fan of it(But don’t tell the 70’s Russian jumpers I said that). Here’s what I saw.
Hop phase – You need to Use the arms a bit more while running off the board.
Step phase- this looks like you best phase, your hips are square with proper knee thrust and arm swing.
Jump phase- By far your worst phase. Your off balance from the start with you Torso up going to your right. And if you frame it, your right knee goes across your body to the left. Although your head starts high you quickly drop it as though you are falling not landing. You do a double arm rotation in the air to the rear position which causes a braking effect try to shoot the arms up then forward. And once again falling out of the sky your left leg hits the sand first and seems to be at least one foot ahead of the right.

You can correct your technique with infield bounding and short 2 and 5 step popups into the pit, concentrate on being PERFECT with your form when doing workouts without speed. May I ask what grade level are you?
