What's up fellas…I'm new to this site, but I figure several of you could really help me. I'm a college athlete that's trying to hit the mark to go to DII nationals for sure my final season. I've qualified provisionally 3 years in a row now…but haven't been able to drop under that actual time that will allow me to go for sure! Well, the time is now, and I need a new shoe. I've been on the JSC's for two years now, and for some reason am not sure if I should be satisfied or not. What I need you guys' help with is determining what shoe will be best for me! For starters, let's say I'm 5'9 and weigh 145 – 150lbs. When it comes to running style, I'm a little of both powerful and graceful. I come out hard into the first 80m and then coast the back stretch…when we come into the turn, I really start to DIG..my body becomes rigid and my feet begin to really claw. I have alot of power in my kick. I've been looking and looking and just can't seem to decide if shoe weight is really going to be an issue, or if having extra spikes or a more rigid mid-sole is going to give me any kind of positive edge. PLEASE HELP ME FELLAS! IM me <muxiflash> or just post away here. Thanks D

Oh yeah, btw, the spikes I've been looking at are the CELAR2s, Zoom Super Fly P Plus, and the JSCs again…all NIKE, cuz I have a rather narrow foot.

I've been is somewhat of the same situation. I run 400s and I???m 5'10" and around 160lbs. It sounds like I run the same as you do. Not all with strength but lots of power, quickness, and flexibility. I ran in the JSCs last year and thought I did well. I loved the way the felt. I???m only a junior in high school so I don???t have much experience with spikes and don???t know what type I should be wearing. Sometimes I wish I could just use Nike???s facilities to find out how I plant my foot and whatnot and have them tell me what I need! That???s not going to happen though unless I become incredibly fast in the future. Anyway, I think I???m going from the JSCs to the Celars 2 this season. They have a bit of a stiffer plate, which should increase your toe off power. Check out my post 200m/400m spikes. 400Stud was explaining to me about the Celars and he will have a pair shortly and update on how they feel.

I'd say with your sprinting style, weight is only a small issue as far as spike choice. You want something light enough to help you with the "finesse" part of the race, but something rigid enough to keep you with a powerful stride during the power part of your race. Again I refer to the Celars seeing as how they're an in-between shoe. Part power, part finesse.

The Superflys are a power spike (hence heavier and with more spikes) and the JSC's are really made for the 400/800 type, don't let them fool you.
