I thought i would start a training journal as i have recently changed coaches and thought this could be a great opportunity to show and record my progressions.
Just a personal bio, I’m 29yo, 5’9, 80kg (176lb) and have probably been running track seriously for around 5yrs, previously with a basketball background.
60 – 7.13 (2008)
100 – 11.10 (2010)
200 – 23.16 (2008)
The coach i have just left followed a high volume, high frequency, high intensity approach which gave me ‘some’ positive results, i was probably 11.4x before i came to him, but in the end i didn’t agree with the overall approach and direction of the program and have recently left. Traditionally, i have always had very strong starts and faded towards the end of my races.
Anyway, the coach i have just joined essentially follows a S-L approach aimed at enhancing metabolic adaptations as well as neuromuscular efficiency. He’s a well-researched coach influenced by many coaches worldwide and also use to be a national level decathlete.
The squad i am joining includes a guy who ran a 10.50 PR last season and another guy who ran 48.7 PR in the 400. Joining me in the new squad is two training partners from my previous squad, one guy PR’s 45.95, 21.12, 10.73, other guy PR’s 10.79, 21.59. So clearly I’m the slowest 😉 but looking to achieve my goals of running fast and improving technical deficiencies to run even faster.
We are moving into an 8 week GPP on Monday 16th of August (traditionally this would have been earlier but we only just made the move from our previous coach).
Keep you posted!
