I am dead shocked at what is going on here. Go to IAAF and check it out. I'm not spoiling it for those who are going to watch the meet on TV this week.
BTW, Go Tyree!

Talk about a bad WC for the U.S.A……what's more shocking (and more personally heart wrenching) than the sprints and jumps performances (other than Walter's TJ) are the guy's SP performances. I really thought we had a shot (no pun intended) at going 1-2-3 in this event and to see only Nelson medal was disappointing.

Why are you shocked? He was my pick to win, he was hot all season. He had a poor reaction time in the semi .227, but was still able to make it in. And don't forget he had the fastest time in the quarts.

Yeah, I wasn't shocked about Collins, and I'm actually not shocked about the US guys either. I think we've all kind of seen this coming. Plus, when both of the US finalists either have had 3 coaches in less than one year (Tim) or don't have a coach at all (Bernard), things like this are going to happen.
Is it me or is anyone else tired of watching Jon Drummond continue to drop his pants and show his arse to the world. We try to teach our athletes to conduct themselves with class, but quite often find "world class" athletes acting like junior high kids.
The US showing overall at the WC has been pathetic and I think the distance runners are reaping the disasterous affects of not going to the European circuit to race. Why we are such no shows even in the "B" level meets never fails to boggle my mind. I constantly hear athletes talk about "saving" themselves for the games. My opinion is that you don't get ready for the games by doing poorly in the world championships. We have to quit making lame excuses and start finding ways to get it done. We don't have a clue in the distances right now. 😡 :splat:

Preach on, preacher! Couldn't have said it any better myself.
Don't know if you've heard the latest, but Montgomery left Paris, and Greene is not running the 4×1, which leaves 5 guys in the relay pool-3 of which are running the 200…
Should be interesting.
:wow:
I was very excited about the 4 x 100 about a month ago or so when they ran 37.77(?) at one of the European meets, but right now I'm hoping that we get a medal (although I think gold is still not out of the realm of possibility).
We might have to pull JJ out of retirement….

Great runners retire, the rest of us (including me) just stop!
🙂
well, i feel like wasted a perfectly beautiful sunday afternoon (8-31) watching the World Games with the T& F Predictions in hand from the Aug. Issue…. good heavens, we really do need work in sprints, jumps, and distance. although mens throws were okay at best. appears only hopefuls are young female (semi-retired gymnasts) who take up pole vault. isn't there a regulations somewhere that mentions uniforms have to look/be same front-back? also, when do you suppose someone will come up with better bib numbers. except for advertising (toyota) can someone explain to me why we need such large vinyl like sheets of plastic that flap in the wind? 🙁
