This is a great website! I have been reading it for a while and figured it was time to ask a question!
I have been coaching HS hurdlers for 10 years. Given the time constraints in HS track, I have never had my athletes weight train. I believe in the benefits of weight training, but with a short season of 3 months and limited training time, I have always felt that my athletes time was better spent working on other aspects of training. I have always said that my athletes should be in a weight training class all year. Unfortunately, most of my athletes do not take advantage of the schools weight training program.
Is this an oversight on my part? If you believe it is, what would you do?
