          I have never really lifted weights before. If i do lots of weight lifting with my legs(squats, hamstring curls….) can it increase my speed alot? Is it worth it?

          Jimmy-
          Strength training will have a considerable effect on your performance. At your age, even doing body weight strength exercises and low-level plyos might be sufficient. You could also add circuits and general low intensity core lifts (squats, bench press, etc.) to develop some underlying strength before you get into anything too advanced.

          well i am trying to improve my forty yard dash time for football. i need to be fast because i am a wide receiver. Right now i run a 5.3 forty yard dash without doing much sprinting. do you think i could end up in the high 4's by next football season?(training begins in august) I am planning to do bechpress,squats, hamstring curls, and sprints.if i do all of this what would you guess my time could end up being?

          It's not unreasonable to improve that much but that is a pretty big jump.

          a good strong upper body will lower your time a little
