Just wondering?  A one loss team is now National Champion while a no loss team with a BCS win is relegated to a top 5 ranking only.

I am playing devils advocate in this thread.  I think it's going to be a close game, hard to call, I wouldn't bet on a spread of +-5 either way if I was a betting man.  However, what do you think of 1 loss team winning the National Championship when a zero loss BCS bowl winner exists?

Totally off topic here, but if I could get odds on a mens USA 4×4 team breaking the World record at somepoint this year.  I probably would bet if I got 10-1 or better odds.

I have no problem with it whatsoever. In fact, I think the ranking system is somewhat absurd to begin with. There are so many factors that going in to winning and losing in any sport, much less a team sport, that I don't think a single loss should disqualify a team from being the best team in the country. How many Super Bowl champions are undefeated? I know it's a different circumstance (playoff vs. no playoff) but it hints to my point. For example, what if the 15th ranked team was perfectly designed (in staff and player personnel) or had the PERFECT game to beat the number 1 team in the country. That same number 1 team however wouldn't lose to any other team in the country…does that mean the number 15 team should be number 1. I don't think so. Until we move to a playoff system I think the BCS system works as good as could be expected.

I think the problem is the lack of objectivity in the human factor here.  The bias towards big schools is a huge problem in the system.  While taking out the human component  BSU only is 4-6 depending on what type of computer models are used, but Florida is not 2nd either.  Great point mike.

On one hand I could be happy with my homeboy Urban Meyer (from Ashtabula, Ohio-yeah baby), but on the other hand I really don't think it will happen.  The rumors going around NE Ohio is that if OSU wins then Tressel might be the next coach of the Cleveland Browns since winning would trigger a  clause in his contract basically making him free to negotiate with whomever.  His dad coached at Baldwin Wallace in Berea where the Browns practice.

ps has there ever been a wilder finish to a bowl game than the Boise State-Oklahoma game?  It looked like flag football/techmo

I will stand up and say that the Boise St – Oklahoma St game was the greatest football game I have ever seen.  And on that note, the Boise St head coach ( can't think of his name right now) THE guttsy-est play caller I have ever seen.
