During our practice on Friday, I strained my glute/groin muscles on both legs. The injuries were very mild. I felt the strain when we were doing plyos, and finished the rest of the workout without much problem (i.e., minimal discomfort).
Yesterday morning when I woke up, I felt the strains worse. It felt more like extreme soreness than any kind of injury, to be honest. I can still walk fine, but just have some discomfort in the area when I am in certain positions or stand up/sit down. I've been taking ibuprofen and icing all today and yesterday, in addition to light stretching.
My question is this: We have a track meet on Thursday, and I'm slated to run 100m, 200m, 400m, and 4x100m. I can scratch myself from any or all of the individual races, but I need to be able to run in the 4×100, as I'm anchoring and the only other team in the state that could compete with our time will be running.
So, if I continue stretching, icing, and taking the ibuprofen, do you guys think it would be possible to run on Thursday in at least the one 4x100m relay, at at least 90%, off of 6 days' rest? I know the recommended is usually at least a fully week off, then a few days of building up and minimum of around 2 weeks before being 100% again with a minor strain as I experienced. Thanks for input
