Eccentric focused strength training has become a focal point for many coaches in the past couple years. The research supporting its use for injury reduction and performance enhancement are irrefutable. But many coaches don’t know where to start. I’ve been doing eccentric focused training for over 15 years and have had time to develop a systematic approach to developing eccentric capacities that I feel transfer to sport while minimizing some of the potential drawbacks of eccentric focused training. In this slidedeck I give the rationale for incorporating eccentric focused training but also provide examples, methods and a suggested progression (slide 102)
